Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
I do not accept insurance for a myriad of reasons: 1) insurance does not get to dictate your care and number of sessions- your care is driven by your goals and preferences paired with my professional expertise, 2) I do not have to diagnose you in our first session- or even at all! And a label will not be permanently attached to your health record, 3) you insurance company will not have access to notes about your care- your records are protected!
Therapy can be more affordable that you think! Insurance companies have out-of-network benefits. I will be able to help you find out what your benefits include. I can provide you with documentation called a “superbill” for out-of-network benefits. Sometimes, insurance companies will partially reimburse for your care. I also can accept payments from HSA. Although, keep in mind- insurance companies will require me to assign a diagnostic code.
You may be able to get partially reimbursed for therapy if you have OON benefits. Check here: Zaya Health Benefits Check
How much does a session cost?
My rate is currently $150 for a 55 minute session. 90 minute sessions are $225. Because I do not accept insurance, I do hold several spots on reduced rate. Please inquire for availability.
For teens- Do you tell my parents what I say in session?
As a minor, you do have rights to confidentiality. If you share information about wanting to hurt yourself, someone else, or disclose abuse, I am legally obligated to break confidentiality. My goal is to be able to assist you in communicating with your parents/guardians. During this process, if you are struggling to update them, I can share for you or with you and will let you know before hand.
How often should I have therapy sessions?
For most significant results, weekly therapy is recommended. I typically establish a routine day and time for our sessions. Of course, I can work with you on what works best as treatment progresses.
What is your cancellation policy?
I require at least 24 hour notice before appointment to avoid session fee of $150. If you are unable to make session and I have availability to fit you in at another time, there will be no fee.
How does therapy work?
The therapeutic journey is unique to each individual. The process at times may result in considerable discomfort. There is no miracle “cure”, and I cannot promise change in your circumstance or behavior. What I can promise is to support and challenge you through this heavy work. My goal is for you to feel seen, heard, and understood in a safe space. There is no template or recipe for our work to be complete. The number of sessions needed varies greatly from client to client. I ask upfront for a commitment of 3 months- at least 12 sessions. Of course, if I do not possess needed expertise, I am happy to provide referrals to professional who may be a better match.
